Former Formula 1 World Champion Kimi Raikkonen was a guest appearance at the FIA’s pre event Press Conference, on the eve of his first ever clear weather gravel rally, and the first time a F1 world champion had entered a world championship rally. “I came because I had the spare time, I didn’t have anything else to do this weekend!” Even if his fame comes out of speed on asphalt surfaces, he said “I think gravel is more this is more normal for me. Compared with my experiences on the winter rallies earlier this year, these roads are faster, the grip is better and the roads are wider!” Asked about his future motorsport pans, he said “I still have one more year contract (in Formula 1) but everything is open and it is nice to be a part of (rallying) here. It all depends on which way F1 is going. Nobody is exactly sure how it will be. I am in no hurry. If I have the time, maybe I do some more rallies. I like learning different things so if I have no (F1) testing then I will do more rallies. I enjoy it and there is no harm in it”. Regarding the news that Michael Schumacher might join him in the Ferrari F1 team he said: ”I only heard it yesterday (Wednesday). For me it makes no difference who drives the second car. I do not think it is 100 percent sure that he will drive as he is still checking things out. But it will be nice to have him as a team-mate”.
