Petter Solberg has received confirmation from the FIA that he is allowed to use active transmission systems on the Citroen Xsara World Rally car which he is to drive on Rally Norway. World Championship rules ban the use of these systems on world championship team cars, but on this event he is driving as a privateer, and current version World Rally Cars do not have this facility available. His car will be chassis 412, first built in 2001, a favourite in earlier days for Sebastien Loeb. In this car the five-times world champion scored a moral victory at Monte Carlo in 2002, went on to win in Monte Carlo and Sanremo in 2003 and then Cyprus in 2004. Since then it was used by Manfred Stohl in the OMV team. It was seen in action earlier this year in the hands of Conrad Rautenbach in Galway Rally. Petter's car is sponsored for this event by MSN, a Microsoft game company.
