Crew FILIP/NEMES finished Avram Iancu Rally on the podium
Five special stages won in group A
The next rally: Iasi Rally (October 25th – 26th)
Avram Iancu started badly, with two flat tyres for crew Alex Filip/Gicu Nemes, but in the end it finished with a podium. After this rally, Alex Filip and Gicu Nemes fin themselves on the 4th position in the group A ranking.
Edition 2008 of Avram Iancu Rally started on Friday September 19th with a rally show Iulius Mall Cluj Napoca parking place. „It's important to have such events organized because it's a plus exposure for our sponsors. We didn't have any problems during the rally show but this show doesn't count in the ranking of the rally. The rally will be decided on the special stages. ”, said Alex Filip, at the end of the Avram Iancu Rally starting show.
The first day and the longest one started badly for crew 79. The flat tyre on of the right front wheel on the first special stage and the flat tyre of the rear right wheel damaged the spring in the second special stage making Alex Filip and Gicu Nemes loose 3 minutes in the direct duel against their competitors in group A. „We've lost a lot of time I don't know how we can recover for it. . We will start from zero and I only hope we can obtain as many points as possible.”, said Alex Filip, in the first service park of the day, where Pro Motor technicians managed to solve the problems of the car.
With the car in perfect state, Alex Filip and Gicu Nemes started the race for recovering lost minutes and they finally got to the third position in the ranking of group A. The second day, on the last 3 special stages Alex Filip and Gicu Nemes tried to recover some more, but it was impossible. Even if they won all the stages they couldn't go upper in the ranking of group A. „The small number of kilometres left didn't allow us to recover more time. Still, finishing this rally on the podium is important for us. The special stages were very technical and tough at the same time, but everybody raced them in the same conditions. We have proved that we are competitive and if we didn't have the two flat tyres we would have been upper in group A ranking for sure.”, said Gicu Nemes, co pilot of crew 79.
The last stage in the Romanian Rally Championship is scheduled on October 25th and 26th on the gravel stages around Iasi. „We still have Mathematical chances to finish on the final podium of the group in 2008 and we will fight until the last time control point. In Cluj, the car functioned perfectly and we managed to find the best set-up for this surface. I want to thank the technical team who did an excellent job here and I am very happy that on some special stages are comparable to the Suzuki S1600 model, which, is well known, it is a car net superior in comparison with the Citroen C2 R2 model”, said Alex Filip, at the end of the 7th stage of the Romanian Rally Championship.

In Iasi Rally 2008, Alex Filip will continue to support the anti smoking a campaign whose image is Mihaela Radulescu. „I have never smoked or been tempted to and I am sure this campaign will be successful. I have never been tempted by the “the cigarette after”something” and I am convinced smoking is one of the most dangerous vices. That's why I have decided to support this campaign imaged by Mihaela Radulescu”, added Alex Filip.
