Both factory Suzukis experienced serious problems on SS14, the first stage of the afternoon’s repeat loop.

Per-Gunnar Andersson stopped around 15km into the stage with broken suspension. The Swede started the day as a Superally entrant after a faulty engine sensor forced him out of Friday’s competition on the way to the opening stage.

After a difficult morning, during which his SX4 WRC had only rear-wheel drive, Toni Gardemeister had to contend with a hydraulic problem on SS14, which affected the power steering and gear shift systems. Gardemeister, who was tenth after the previous stage, completed the test almost five minutes slower than stage winner Petter Solberg and dropped to 16th.

The team hopes to repair Andersson’s car so he can rejoin the event on Sunday.
