22 year old Englishman Adam Gould has been selected by a panel of journalists as the BF Goodrich Kronos celebrity Peugeot 207 Super 2000 driver on the Rally of Scotland (November 19-21). This award comes after disappointment in 2008 when he was narrowly beaten in the selection as one of the European Pirelli Star Drivers, though his performances in 2008 gave him the official Pirelli car drive in the 2009 British Rally Championship. 36 drivers applied for the award, and a short list of five was being considered. It was expected that Guy Wilks would be up for consideration but he withdrew minutes before voting on hearing that he would drive the Rene Georges Skoda Fabia S2000 on this event. Marc van Dalen chief of the Kronos team said "Gould deserves the chance, he is a star for the future. Our job at Kronos is to do everything possible for him, and I know that Kris Meeke, his teammate in Scotland, will help him all he can!". Gould achieved plaudits in the British championship when he volunteered that his teammate Mark Higgins should drive his prize drive car on the final championship round, to enhance Higgins’ chances of the title. Unfortunately his sporting action was not rewarded.
