It’s party time. Meaning a gravel rally. The first one, in 2009 season, for crew Alex Filip/Bogdan Iancu.
The first gravel rally in 2009 season means 100% fun for crew Alex Filip/Bogdan Iancu.
“The gravel in Iasi is very good and I hope the new stages included this year will be good as the ones raced in the previous years. I love to drive on gravel and I can't wait for this stage to start. ”, said
Alex Filip, before the start at Iasi rally, the third stage of the Dunlop National Rally Championship.
350,6 kilometers, from which 115,3 km divided in 9 special stages. This is of course, on paper, Iasi Rally in 2009.

On the special stages, Iasi rally is a little more complicated than that.
“I don't have very nice memories from Iasi, ”, says
Alex Filip.
„In 2007 I couldn't take the start because, after a scheduled testing session just one week before the race, I have broken the gear box and I couldn't manage to get another one in due time. In 2008 I finished on the podium, but I still had technical problems. I would like to finish again on the podium this year, but this time let's hope with no technical problems.” Iasi stage is also my first gravel rally together with
Bogdan Iancu.
“On tarmac, in Timisoara, things went on just fine. During the recce I will try to familiarize with Alex's style on gravel I don't think we will have any problems during the race. Of course, we need time to accommodate, but things are going to the right direction.”, stated
Bogdan Iancu, the copilot of crew
79, before the official recce done with a Citroen C-Crosser.
Crew 79 continues, in Iasi, the
“Race and Help” campaign. Foe every National Rally Championship stage Alex Filip's sponsors will donate 5 Euro in charity purpose for every kilometer of raced special stages. After Timisoara rally, 605 Euro were raised for the “Race and Help”campaign, money that were immediately redirected to Fundatia Hospice „Casa Sperantei”. In Iasi we can raise 576,5 Euro, money that will be donated by Citroën Romania. „Now we have two reasons to get to the finish line at each rally we take part to. One is because we want to have a good result, the second is raising as much money as possible for the “Race and Help” campaign. At the beginning I wanted to support another cause each rally, but in the end, I think it is more efficient to redirect the whole amount of money raised in a season to a single place. Therefore, until the end of season 2009, we will support Fundatia Hospice “Casa Sperantei”, added Alex Filip.
Iasi Rally will take place between May 22nd – 23rd on the gravel special stages around the city. For Alex Filip and Bogdan Iancu, this year's edition will start one day earlier, on May 21st at Iulius Mall. Starting with 10:30 AM the crew 79's Citroën C2 R2 model will be exposed at the Grand Auto stand. All those coming to the Grand Auto stand will get autographed posters from Alex Filip and Bogdan Iancu, they will meet the rally car, the Citroën C2 R2, and they will find out more things on the 2009 National Rally Championship and Iasi Rally.
“I can't wait to get to this event. I love to speak to rally passionates and I am sure a great deal of them will come to see us at Iulius Mall and they will become, after this event, spectators on the special stages”, a said
Alex Filip.
Immediately after the rally, Alex Filip will leave to Urziceni, where Dinamo team will play with Unirea Urziceni, on May 24th.
“It is a very important game for Dinamo and I have to be there to support them. I hope the “Dinamobile”, my rally car, will bring them good luck and help them win the game”, added
Alex Filip.
In 2009, crew Alex Filip/Bogdan Iancu counts on the support of its partners:
Orange Romania, Citroen Romania, Coza Advertising, Converse and ColinaMotors.
