Following Nasser Al Attiyah’s win in the Jordan Rally, five drivers go to the final round of the Middle East Rally Championship series in Dubai in December in search of titles. Nasser led the Jordan event from start to finish, his fourth MERC win this year, gradually pulling away from Roger Feghali and Misfer Al Marri. Nasser started with a one-point championship lead over Al Rahji who had radiator trouble and missed four stages on the first day. He returned on day 2 and finished seventh overall, keeping himself in the title race. Al Marri pulled up from sixth place to third, passing Nick Georgiou on the way, but Georgiou then retired two stages from the end when he went off the road. Conditions were strange. There were heavy rain storms and the final stage of the first day was cancelled as being impassable, even for off road vehicles. The stages were essentially the same as those used on the world championship event, Nasser and Misfer and Yazeed Al Rahji go to Dubai in search of the MERC title, while Nick Georgiou and Meshari Al Thafiri go as the final candidates for the MERC Pirelli Star Driver shoot out at that event. MERC officials do not believe a wildcard PSD entry will be made for the shoot-out. Al Attiyah now leads the MERC with 40 points, Al Marri 37 and Al Rahji 32.
