Crew 79 preserves its leader position in group A
The best position in the Citroen Racing Trophy
Next challenge: Class 1 Grand Prix Romania

The second position and 8 points were the maximum possible in Tara Barsei Rally.
Alex Filip and Bogdan Iancu accomplished their objective and preserved the first position in the general ranking of group A. Tara Barsei Rally started badly for Alex Filip and Bogdan Iancu, but ended up as good as possible. Crew 79 preserved its leader position in group A before the last two stages of the season. The 6th stage of the National Rally Championship debuted with a super special on the streets of Brasov center, stage costing Alex Filip more than 10 seconds.
“It was proven once again that the super specials are my weak point. It was entirely my mistake and I think it would
be better for me to have these stages at the end of the rally. We have seen it in Cluj that in decisive moments, when every second matters, I can concentrate better and even win”, said
Alex Filip, after the first day of Tara Barsei Rally. Saturday, the second day of the rally, 6 special stages were scheduled to take place on gravel with a total length of 111 km.
“Fortunately the first stage of the day, long of about 30 kilometers was canceled. We chose the wrong tires and if we would have been raced both stages scheduled before the first service park, we wouldn't have had any chance to the podium of group A. On the third special of the day we nearly went out the track, but again, fortune was on our side and kept us in the race”, said
Bogdan Iancu, in the first service park of the second day of Tara Barsei Rally. Also on the 4th special stage, crew 79 went off the track.
“For the second complete round we've chosen soft tires, the only option available, and that was really inappropriate with
the surface of this rally. The car was pretty hard to control and we missed a braking point on a bridge curve. We were lucky again and we managed to finish the stage without any problems. ”, stated
Alex Filip.
Before the last complete round of two special stages, Alex Filip and Bogdan Iancu went up on the second position in the group A ranking, but the advance between them and the third position was only of 2,5 seconds. Alex Filip lost 0,9 seconds in the duel with Ernest Mullner on the long 30 kilometers special but forced a little bit on the last special of the rally and ensured its second position in the group with an advance of 8,3 seconds in front of the first position.
“My strategy for this rally was to finish after Edwin Keleti and I made it. He is competing with a much more powerful car, almost 80 HP stronger than mine. I am really pleased I managed to loose only less than one second per kilometers taking into consideration the differences between the cars.”, added
Alex Filip. The 2nd position obtained in group A also means the best result among the pilots registered in the Citroen Racing Trophy. Meaning another enjoyable moment for Alex Filip:
“I am really sorry that Dani Ungur, as well as Nistor Duval had certain problems. I am sure the fight for a position on the podium would have been much more challenging. I would like to thank Nistor Duval for the encouragement and the fair-play he's shown us.”

Alex Filip is
