Following the announcement of the end of Fuji Heavy Industries' world championship activities, details about the consequences of the decision are emerging. Firstly FHI's President Ikuo Mori declared that FHI will "continue to support teams and drivers that participate in P-WRC or the Group N category" while Prodrive have stated they intend to continue with their work with customers who compete with their World Rally Cars. Morten Ostberg, father of rally driver Mads and proprietor of the Norwegian Adapta team has stated he intends to continue with his plans to run a "Manufacturer's Team" (M2) and hopes that Petter Solberg will be able to join his team. If this proceeds, an official Subaru team will still be present in the 2009 world championship.
Current FIA world championship rules do not prevent an M2 team from registering for the championship, even if the manufacturer team has not registered their own "Manufacturer" (M1) team. Petter, meanwhile has been told he sustained a minor fracture of his left arm when he jumped off his moving Subaru rally team at Memorial Bettega at Bologna last Sunday. It is expected he would be fit to drive again in fourteen days.
