Rallying Permanent Chief Steward Outed
Nazir Hossein who has been permanent Chairman of the World Rally Championship has been relieved of his position, following disputed changes in official recognition of the Indian motor sport federation by the FIA. For three years Hossein presided over WRC disputes and brought a long awaited sense of stability and predictability to this position. even if sometimes the stewards' judgments on events sometimes seemed harsh. Hoosein has held many major positions in the sport, including the Vice Presidency of the FIA for Sport, the position now granted to Mohammed Bin Sulayem. Ironically this move has come at a time when unpredictability of Stewards' decisions has become a major dissatisfaction in Formula 1. For a while, during uncertainty over recognition of and Governmental support for the two opposing Indian federations, Hoosein was invited to hold the position of representing the People's Republic of China on the World Motor Sport Council. His position at the Wales Rally GB is being assumed by the Rallye Deutschland Administrator Waltraud Wunsch.
