M-Sport have announced that Mikko Hirvonen will compete on Rallye Monte-Carlo, the IRC event, in a Ford Fiesta S2000. There are no current plans for Ford to register for the IRC series.

FIA President Jean Todt has called Rally Forum to be held in Monte Carlo on 9th December, 48 hours before the World Council is to meet. Invited to attend are representatives from teams, organisers, officials, current and former rally competitors and people from the IRC and Cross Country rally communities Todt has already said he believes that more thought must be given to the format of future world rally championship calendars before the 2011 can be decided. Morrie Chandler, President of the FIA’s World Rally Championship Commission, explained this meeting is to consider the wider issues of the direction of the sport.

Rally Bulgaria, which was ordered by the FIA’s World Motor Sport Council to end their inaugural world rally championship event unusually on a Saturday, has now been told by ISC that it will be possible to finish on a Sunday. “168 Hours” newspaper in Sofia reports that ISC said that since the end of Rally Bulgaria would be six hours before the Football World Cup Final in South Africa, there was no conflict of interests among television companies. It is believed that the final decision will be based on whether it will be practical to end the event with a downtown superspecial on the Sunday in the country’s capital Sofia.

News coming this weekend will be from Dubai, where the MERC series will be decided and where the final candidate for the Pirelli Star Driver will be named, also from Rally Argentine where the national championship will be decided.
