Petter Solberg showed his active transmission Xsara WRC in public for the first time, at a press release this morning at Spyderberg in Norway. This is the car which he and Phil Mills will compete on next week's Rally Norway, and if all goes well, on further rallies afterwards. He has chosen a team of 11 people to work with him in Norway, including former Subaru WRT coordinator Ken Rees, and former Citroen Sport engineers Francois-Xavier Demaison and Karine Vassant. "We also have many "good helpers, and without them this (programme) wouldn't be possible at all", Petter said. Running a car with active transmissions is a luxury only allowed to non-championship rally drivers, which Petter now becomes after the sudden end of the Subaru WRT project.
