Villagra 8 times Argentine Champion
Two Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X drivers went to the Argentina’s traditional season final rally, the “Gran Premio” which this year was based at Unquillo in the Cordoba region, able to win the title. After two retirements earlier in the season, Federico Villagra found himself 5.5 points behind fellow Mitsubishi driver Nicolas Madero. The event started with a downtown superspecial, with a purpose made jump in Unquillo itself, but the event was run mainly on tracks traditionally used by Rally Argentina. Madero had a bad event, twice suffering clutch trouble, and on the second occasion lost over ten minutes, dropping back to 17th place. Meanwhile Villagra lost a little time on day 2 with rear differential failure. Finally Madero pull back to ninth by the finish. Gabriele Pozzo won the event in a Subaru Impreza, Villagra took second place.
