Poland. Peugeot 207 Super 2000 driver Leszek Kuzaj and British codriver Craig Parry won the Orlen Rally, penultimate round of Polish championship run at Plock and IRC driver Nicolas Vouilloz was the best two wheel car driver in a 207 RC Rallye being classified 12th. Day 1 leader Bryan Bouffier had to settle for second in his Lancer Evo IX but still retains his RSMP championship lead. Tomasz Kuchar finished third in another Peugeot 207 S2000. Notable retirements included Michal Solowow who suffered mechanical problems on day 2 with his 207 S2000 and Kajetan Kajetanowicz who stopped his Subaru Impreza N15 during the first day.
Czech Republic. Vaclav Pech (Mitsubishi) beat Jaromir Tabarus (Fiat) on the Czech championship Sevenoaks Pribram Rally. Roman Kresta (Peugeot) retired with engine trouble when leading but still leads the championship. Jaromir Tarabus finished second after a great battle with Pech which ended when the Punto S2000 driver suffered a broken rim on SS16. Josef Petak was third in a 207 S2000 with Vojtech Stajf fourth in his Impreza N14.
Portugal.Bruno Magalhaes (Peugeot) won the Centro de Portugal championship rally, beating PCWRC world champion elect Armindo Araujo (Mitsubishi) by over a minute. Araujo was making his debut in an Evo X. Jose Pedro Fontes went off the road in his Aston Martin DBRS9.
South Africa. Mark Cronje won the BP Ultimate Swartland Rally in South Africa in a Toyota Auris S2000. There was a devastating accident before the rally when two members of the service crew of Charl Wilken died in a road accident and Wilken’s Subaru rally car was destroyed by fire.
Sweden. PG Andersson won the Kolsvarundan Rally, fourth round of the Swedish series. A puncture stopped Mats Jonsson from claiming his 15th championship title on this event. The final round of the Swedish series is on October 10.
Holland. Erik Wevers won the Hellendoorn Rally in Holland in a Ford Focus WRC in front of Dennis Kuipers (Subaru Impreza WRC S14) and Mark van Eldik (Mitsubishi Lancer WRC).
Historic Rally. Salvatore Riolo scored his third victory in FIA European Historic Sporting Rally Championship event this year when he won the Elba Storico rally in his Porsche 911 RS.
CODASUR. Uncertainty surrounded the end of the Sucre Rally Bolivia where Argentine driver Raul Martinez had hoped to clinch the FIA’s Codasur (South America) zone series. The Argentine driver won the event but there were claims about a servicing irregularity en route. Two more
events are still to be run, in Chile and then in Uruguay.
