The Italian rally championship was won at Como by Peugeot driver Paulo Andruecci, after applying tie deciding rules in which Andreucci won more second places than his rival Luca Rossetti (Fiat) who won the rally. Both drivers ended up with three overall wins a piece.

World Moto GP champion Valentino Rossi has made plans to contest the national Monza Rally in Italy at the end of November and hopes to compete next year in the world championship Mexico Rally, both in Ford World Rally Cars.

Hergen Fekken won the South African rally championship at the wheel of a VW Polo S2000. He finished second on the Toyota Dealer Rally Gauteng behind teammate Enzo Kuun VW cars finished 1-2-3. Fekken’s championship rival Johnny Gemmell (Toyota Auris S2000) retired.

Former WRC driver Jani Paasonen (Subaru) finished second on the New York Rally, final round of the 2009 US Rally Championship, after suffering delay through a broken differential. Winner was Thomas Lawless (Mitsubishi). Keith Jackson (Impreza) came fourth and won the USRC’s four wheel drive championship.

Details about the first entries for Britain’s final international rally of the year, the IRC Rally of Scotland list five Super 2000 entries (two Kronos team cars for the Peugeot UK driver IRC champion Kris Meeke and the BF Goodrich celebrity driver still to be selected), Alister McRae in a Proton Satria Neo, British champion Keith Cronin in a Fiat Grande Punto and a Skoda for gentleman driver Peter Stevenson. The identity of the Celebrity driver is due to be announced around two weeks before the start. This is the final round of the IRC series and will run 19-21 November. Entry deadline has now been extended to November 7th.
